What is it?

Fans of the critically-acclaimed drama Lost will finally get to scratch their desert island itch when the anticipated fourth season begins Thursday night. But why should the castaways enjoy all the fun in the sun? Why don't you get to be stranded, too?

Ubisoft plans to change that with Lost: Via Domus, a next-generation adventure game for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC that plunks players smack in the middle of the odd island. Exploring various locations seen in the series, gamers will take on the role of never-before-seen castaway Elliot, a photojournalist suffering from a curious bout of amnesia. Through the series' trademark flashbacks and interaction with castaways including Jack, Locke, Hurley, Desmond, Sawyer, and Kate, you'll attempt to solve the mystery of your own past and navigate the tricky politics of the island.

That certainly won't be easy. Familiar locations like the Black Rock, Flame Station, and the Medical Hatch as well as numerous jungle and beach environments will present plenty of challenging scenarios. You might have to track boars with Locke, flesh out the island map with Sayid, and, of course, deal with the dreaded Black Smoke. As a photographer, you'll also have the ability to chronicle your adventure by taking loads of photos along the way.

Will that include a way to get off the island for good? You'll have a chance to find out when Lost: Via Domus crash lands on February 26.
