Capcom finally let us get our hands on the Xbox 360 version of Devil May Cry 4 today. And while we're happy to report it looks great, it was the same sections of gameplay we've been seeing since Capcom's Gamers Day in April. At E3 this year we wondered if this build was the most overused disc in the history of videogame trade shows. Capcom must really be going for that record.
At the very least, we can assure you the game looks fantastic on the 360. Load times stay out of your way, backgrounds distract you from battle (in a good way), and everything runs quickly and smoothly.
Anyone who has played Devil May Cry before will feel right at home with this latest iteration, even though Dante isn't the main character. There are still door barriers that are broken once you've defeated nearby enemies, psychotic marionettes are everywhere, and bosses still make grand entrances. There are plenty of new additions being added, as well. Lead badass Nero can "rev up" his sword by squeezing the L trigger, giving him more powerful slices. Players can now sprint their way around the game world, which means DMC is faster than ever. More destructible objects have been added to the environments, making for lots of nice collateral damage. And when an enemy overpowers him, Nero does a back flip and stylishly slides along the ground in a tripod position.
Devil May Cry 4 is still slated to arrive sometime this winter.
