The incredibly popular karaoke series for PlayStation 2 was on display at the Sony Press Conference. The powerful publisher used the game to illustrate its new online technology that will enable users to purchase music videos that play in the background of the game as players perform popular songs.

Sony, of course, owns a huge catalogue of music and used a Good Charlotte video to illustrate the purchase of a song that was then available in the game. After the conference My SingStar was available to play in the rear of the hall as a surprise for those in attendance.

The only difference between this game and the more commonly known Karaoke Revolution is that the meter that gauges the pitch of you voice doesn't move up and down allowing for adjustments, it only plunks down a marker where players first hit the note. The game scores based on notes, line bonuses, and golden notes that award bonus points.

We checked out Should I Stay or Should I Go by the Clash on some shiny silver microphones until it was time to run back over to Warhawk. But at least we learned that the microphone and its response onscreen works very well before we left.

More as we have it.
