At Sierra's "booth" today we got another good look at Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly, due this November for PlayStation 2 and GameCube. In development by Equinox and Check Six, Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly begins where the last game in the series left off.

Keeping the graphics similar to the PlayStation version, but utilizing larger levels and higher resolution graphics, Check Six's game broadens the gameplay with larger levels and more mini-games. In fact the game is stuffed with mini-games, vehicles to ride, and tons of extras to distract gamers and lengthen their experience. There is one Simon Says rhythm mini-game like in Parappa the Rapper and another climbing mini-game, in the tradition of Crazy Climber, which we saw today. There are eight main levels, with 16 mini-games in all.

Newly added features include tutorials from Sparks, your NPC helper. If you get lost, can't find the next objectives, or can't defeat an enemy, Sparks will speak to you via speech bubbles. As previous reported, Spyro now has four kinds of breath attacks, fire, bubbles, ice, and electricity. Many of the new levels include breath-specific goals that can only be achieved using particular breath attacks. In some cases, players must nearly complete a level and then gain a new breath attack and return to that previous level to complete it. The newly added water effects show respectable water patterns, whether its from underneath the surface of the water, or above.

Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly is due to hit retail shelves before the Thanksgiving holiday in November. We’ll have more soon.
