As any historian knows, ancient Persia didn't have the luxury of kung-fu wirework, time-manipulating daggers, and wizardry during epic wars. Thankfully, video games tell a different story.
This re-envisioning of the classic Prince of Persia franchise spins a yarn about a young warrior fed up with his father reaping all the benefits of their many territorial invasions. Once he finally plunders an artifact, the Prince discovers a magical dagger capable of impressive tricks. Sadly, it's also the catalyst for the game's tragic events to follow. When the prince unknowingly stabs a giant hourglass with the stubby knife, he unleashes the sands of time, a horde of undead enemies, and consequently lays waste to nearly the entire kingdom.
After the quick set-up -- presented in brilliantly rendered cinemas, mind you -- the action kicks in immediately. You'll be thrust into a world of giant, oversized puzzles, each in the form of the palace's extraordinarily large rooms. Some simply request that you make it from the ceiling to the floor without dying, while others are a bit more complicated and involve tasks like helping a guard restart the palace's emergency defense system (which takes a lot of guess and check maneuvers).
