We nail every spring training drill under the sun.

While the fortunes of a team may rest on one fateful down or a momentum changing moment in a critical game, the true measure of a player comes down to their work ethic in the offseason, where they work on the fundamentals of their position thanks to a series of drills. NCAA Football 07 is recreating that experience, with sixteen specialized drills (11 of which are new for this year) scattered between offensive, defensive and special teams to hone your gameday skills. If you master these skills, you should have no problem dominating your competition. If you don't want to run extra laps around the field, huddle up, read this, and watch some of these drills in action.

40-Yard Dash

Ok, so we're making a slight cheat at the start: the 40-yard dash isn't one of the specific Spring Drills that you can continually access at the main menu. But it is the first drill that you'll engage in when you create a player in the Campus Legend mode, and since you'll need speed if you're looking to evade a hit, break a run or tackle an opponent, it's important to cover. Your primary concern with getting a great 40-time is how fast you can pound on the sprint button, so limber up those fingers, because you'll have three chances to improve upon your sprinting results.

Offensive Drills

Option Attack

The option play can be one of the trickiest plays to run, but one of the hardest plays to defend against. A quarterback that is confident with the option can confuse the secondary with fake handoffs and pitches while gaining crucial yardage on the ground. Thanks to the Option Attack drill, you'll be able to get your timing down on when you should hand off to your fullback, pitch the ball or keep it for yourself. You'll have 10 reps to score as many times as you can, with points awarded for positives like well timed pitches and gained yardage and points subtracted for fumbles or lost yardage.

Oklahoma

While you won't have your teammates huddled around cheering you on, and it won't be an uneven matchup between offense and defense, it is a great way to test a ball carrier's skill of evading a defender with jukes, spins and other great running. The Oklahoma is a two on two drill within an enclosed space (defined by pads), where the ball carrier simply has to avoid getting tackled by the defenders and score.
