Can't wait until the fall for Guitar Hero III? We can't wait either. Good thing we had the chance to spend a little quality time with the metal and rock classics of Activision's latest installment in the series, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s, then, isn't it?

Although our almost-finished preview version of the game included what looked to be a full track list, we can't tell you what's on it. Well, we could, but we'd have to kill you, probably in some 80s metal-style ritual involving big-haired singers and lots of gore.

Take it from us: Activision has a few sizable surprises in store for you, as there are big name tracks still to be unveiled.

Now that we're done teasing, here's the list we are allowed to talk about, in rough order of difficulty:

  • Holy Diver -- Dio
  • Metal Health (Bang Your Head) -- Quiet Riot
  • Nothin' But a Good Time -- Poison
  • I Wanna Rock -- Twisted Sister (original)
  • Lonely is the Night -- Billy Squier
  • Synchronicity II -- The Police
  • Heat of the Moment -- Asia
  • Shakin' -- Eddie Money
  • Bathroom Wall -- Faster Pussycat
  • Round and Round -- Ratt
  • I Ran (So Far Away) -- A Flock of Seagulls (original)
  • Play With Me -- Extreme
  • 18 and Life -- Skid Row

You'll notice a definite rock and metal bias in that list, and that's no bad thing. While we'd certainly like to play along to synth-pop favorites like Soft Cell or Eurhythmics, it's probably better to wait for Keyboard Hero to tackle them.
