Reset Episode 15: It Came from Japan and Korea

Feb 10, 2006

Synopsis

In this multinational episode of Reset, the gang hooks up with companies from Japan and Korea. First up is a set of developer interviews from Konami Gamers' Day. From stealth-strategy games to bikini-clad women wrestling and doing the limbo, Konami has something for everyone. Moving from Japan to Korea, Ruby and Raymond take a look at new Samsung televisions and learn about the latest technology geared towards gamers. To close out the show, Raymond sits down with three of the top editors in the business to hear what they have to say about Konami's upcoming games, movies, and new-media products.

Part One: Konami's Talented Trio

Ruby works her charm on three developers from Konami and gets the skinny on Beatmania, Metal Gear Acid 2, and Rumble Roses XX. Konami's incredibly talented trio of DJ Taka, Shinta Nojiri, and Akari Uchida talk about their respective games in a piece you definitely don't want to miss. You're also treated by some topnotch voice-over work in this package.

Part Two: Televisions for Gamers

Samsung makes some of the best televisions on the market, but with so many technologies it's getting harder and harder to pick a set that meets your needs. Ruby and Raymond meet up with Samsung to learn what new gaming technologies the company is implementing in its 2006 models; learn about the advantages and differences between DLP, LCD, and plasma; and look at a ridiculously large television that costs more than a house.

Part Three: Editor Roundtable

The Konami Gamers' Day madness continues in Reset with an editor roundtable. Electronic Gaming Monthly's freshly anointed executive editor Shane Bettenhausen, GamesRadar's Christian Nutt, and GameSpy's Sterling McGarvey sit down with Raymond to talk about Karaoke Revolution Country, the Silent Hill Experience, Metal Gear Solid Digital Comic (working title), and the Silent Hill movie. The editors also take some time to show off their modeling skills.
