Family pet revived after being killed by Wii remote

Jan 13, 2009

Ozzy is one lucky puppy.

Colorado's Channel 9 News reports on the five-month-old Sheltie's unsuccessful game of catch with a flying Wii remote, which briefly sent him to that great kennel in the sky.

Ozzy's owner, Kathy White of Marquette, Michigan, accidentally hit the dog in the head during a Wii Sports bowling session. She immediately called neighbor Pene Honey for help, who found the tiny dog laying lifeless on the ground.

"I just waited to see if he would breath and his heart was racing and racing and then it slowed and then just stopped, and that's when I gave him a breath in his nose," she told Channel 9.

The canine CPR did the trick, as eventually Ozzy came to and was rushed to the vet, who diagnosed him with severe brain swelling and cardiac arrest. He's since made a nearly full recovery.

White hopes her ordeal will act as a warning to other Wii owners.

"I just want people to be aware of their environment," she said, "especially small dogs and children so this doesn't happen to them."
