Let's face it: we've all wanted to run about inside the garishly-decorated and iconic Simpsons house shooting people, but short of traveling to Nevada, up until now we've had to make do with our imaginations.
Which is the main reason our collective eye was caught by this painstaking recreation of the world of The Simpsons inside classic PC shooter Quake III. Wait, scratch that, "painstaking" is not quite the word --let's try "obsessive" instead. It's all here, from the "Everyone Gets a Trophy Day" trophy on Bart's bedroom shelves to the Love Tester machine in Moe's bar.
This demo video gives you a "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous"-style walkthrough of Chez Simpson, before heading outside for some good, old-fashioned fragging action. You'll notice, too, that the maker has taken the time to replace the enemy character models with Simpsons characters too, allowing Homer to take out his frustrations at Mr. Burns with the business end of a shotgun.
If you happen to have a copy of Quake III lying around, you can download the map at this Myspace page. Anyone like to take any bets on how long it takes a dev studio to snap up this (presumably) up-and-coming mapper? This work's easily up to the standards set by the better Simpsons commercial releases.
