Did you buy a brand-new high-definition TV in order to take advantage of the Xbox 360 and PS3's fancy graphics? Seems you're not the only one, as a study from Frank N. Magid Associates indicates. The national survey, which involved a group of 1,235 households, indicated nearly one in five HDTV owners made their purchases with an eye on console usage.
Magid's survey found that 25% of US households have at least one high-definition set, an increase of 5.5 million since September. Among adults aged 21 to 34, almost a third of HDTV owners said video game consoles were a key motivator for their HDTV purchasing choice - and three million households boast multiple high-def sets.
"Consumers who become accustomed to the sleek and contemporary appearance of their first HD set are now looking to bring that benefit into other rooms in their home," commented Maryann Baldwin, vice-president of Magid Media Futures, in a Friday press release.
