Wii Sports Resort Goes Social

Nintendo creates a Facebook application that opens up the game to social networking.

Not satisfied with keeping the Facebook experience exclusively on the DSi, Nintendo of America has revealed a new application for Facebook that brings social networking to Wii Sports Resort.

The application invites players to add Wii Sports Resort to their Facebook profile, which then enables users to create and join Wii Sports Resort tournaments. Scores can be posted and medals and trophies can be earned that are then displayed for bragging rights right there for everyone on Facebook to see.

In our brief look at the application, it appears that, since you don't actually link your Wii system to Facebook, it's all entirely on the honor system what gets posted since you manually enter scores into the application.

The Facebook application is available now by heading to http://apps.facebook.com/wiisportsresort/.
