Fallout Movie Coming?

Bethesda trademarks film and TV series.

The Fallout universe could be expanding beyond the world of videogames, with Bethesda recently filing a trademark for the brand covering both a television series and film.

A filing on the US Patent and Trademark Office site – picked up by Joystiq – lays claim to use of the name for "entertainment services in the nature of an on-going television program," as well as "motion picture films about a post-nuclear apocalyptic world."

The Fallout series has long drawn from the rich vein of post-apocalyptic cinema, with in-game references stretching from the Mad Max films to A Boy and His Dog.

Bethesda's Fallout 3 trumped its way to an 8.8 when reviewed last year – and went on to be the deserved winner of IGN's Game of the Year.
