Halo Wars Not Over?

Legendary ending suggests more on the way.

In Halo games, those with the skills and endurance needed to beat the game on the hardest difficulty, dubbed Legendary, have been rewarded with a special ending. The creators of Halo Wars have continued this tradition that was laid out by Bungie back in the days of Halo: Combat Evolved. To get this little easter egg, you have to beat Halo Wars on the Legendary difficulty and then sit through the credits that follow. At the very end, you'll hear the voice of the AI construct, Serena, saying, "Captain, wake up. Something has happened."

If you'd like a little more context to that quote and don't mind spoilers, we've got the ending cutscene here to fill you in on the details.

This warning by the artificial intelligence suggests either a sequel or a downloadable expansion that would tell the story of exactly what has happened.

With the closure of the development studio responsible for Halo Wars, Ensemble, a direct sequel appears unlikely in the near future. However, members of that team have started a new company called Robot Entertainment that has already been announced as the one that will provide post-release support and additional content for Halo Wars. Head over the official Halo Wars site and you can now find that studio's branding at the top.
