AU: Animal Crossing Wii Gets DLC

Nintendo Australia has finally begun to make good on the promise of free content for Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City owners out there. From today, players can download a special item to further customise their character's appearance - a bright red Pikmin hat - to celebrate the release of New Play Control! Pikmin on February 26.

Eager gamers need to get in quick, though - the Pikmin hat will only be available for download until February 12, 2009.

To download your Pikmin hat:

• Make sure your Wii is connected to the internet, with WiiConnect24 turned on

• Ensure that the WiiConnect24 settings in Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City allow communication with other users - this can be done via the telephone upstairs in your room in Animal Crossing: Lets Go To The City

• The postman will deliver a letter to your house with a gift attached containing the Pikmin hat

Fingers crossed that this is only the start of a surge of cool Animal Crossing freebies from Nintendo. Open those floodgates, guys!
