LOTRO Refer-a-Friend Program Announced

European Middle-earth dwellers can now earn real world cash for player referrals.

Codemasters Online has today revealed its new refer-a-friend program for European-based The Lord of the Rings Online players. The program allows current players to earn Amazon vouchers; either five British pounds or five euros, for each new player that creates a new account.

To take part in the programme, which launches on 4th February all current players need to do is visit the LOTRO Refer a Friend page at www.lotro-europe.com/refer and enter their friends' email addresses to send them a personal invitation to a fantastic 14-day free trial and a 25% discount off the game. In return, players can look forward to a £5 or €5 Amazon voucher for each friend who goes on to create a full game subscription for themselves.

The 25 percent discount only applies to European digital downloads of the game through the Codemasters' e-store.

Bryn says: Depending on how important things like in-game bonuses, items and free character levels are to you, this new promotion offers something that World of Warcraft's refer-a-player program does not; real-life money. That's not to be sniffed at. For now though, I wonder how long it will be until this program is extended across the pond to North American LOTRO players. Seems like a no-brainer too me.
