Unreal Tournament III Expansion Planned

Mark Rein says "major expansion" is in the works.

While assuring the relationship between developer Epic Games and publisher Midway was still fine, Epic's Vice President Mark Rein said a "major expansion" for Unreal Tournament III was in the works.

"Midway is still very much the publisher of Unreal Tournament III," said Rein to Eurogamer. He added, "In fact, we're working together on a major expansion to Unreal Tournament 3, that we expect will excite and grow our UT3 customer base which, incidentally, now numbers over a million units sold-through world-wide."

Unreal Tournament III initially debuted on the PC and PlayStation 3 in Q4 of 2007. The sci-fi first-person shooter was later ported over to the Xbox 360 in July 2008. Details on the upcoming expansion remain sketchy as Epic did not reveal which platforms the expansion will appear on.

IGN has contacted Rein for more details, but the company is really tight-lipped about the game at the moment. "Sorry but we're not giving out any additional details at this point in time," Rein replied in an email.
