Manhunt 2 AO Again?

ESRB mysteriously re-rates Rockstar's title.

The story of Rockstar's Manhunt 2 is well known by now, particularly with its initial rating of Adults Only, its subsequent delay and eventual re-classification as a Mature title. However, a recent ESRB ratings list seemed to add a new chapter to the controversial title at first glance, as the game was reclassified for the PS2, PSP and Wii as Adults Only once again. Such a classification would be quite troublesome for a game, because most retailers won't stock or sell such titles, but the decision to reclassify a title that was released a year ago with the controversial elements removed did appear to be a strange one.

This is particularly true considering that the game is slated to be released in the UK later this month. We contacted Rockstar about this, and a spokesman for the company mentioned that while their game had been listed as an AO title, this was a mistake on the ESRB's part, and that the rating would be changed back to the proper M classification.
