Mario Super Sluggers Roster Revealed

The entire Mario family will play ball this summer.

Mario is trying out a new sport shortly, but he thankfully won't be alone. The latest issue of Famitsu reveals the supporting cast of sluggers who will join Mario on the baseball field for Mario Super Sluggers (known as Super Mario Stadium in its home territory).

The game's main cast of characters includes the key figures like Mario, Peach, Wario, Koopa, and Yoshi. These players serve as team captains. The other eight players on your team can be chosen from a huge cast that includes:

Baby Mario

Baby Luigi

King Boo

Boo

Toadette

Toad

Toadsworth

Piranha (Packun Flower)

Monte

Goomba

Paragoomba

Koopa Troopa

Magikoopa

Lakitu

Monty Mole

Paratroopa

Shy Guy

Dry Bones

Mare

You'll also be able to build your roster up from your Mii collection.

Anyone who's played Mario Tennis or Mario Golf will tell you that there's more to the character of these games than just the characters. Nintendo and developer Namco Bandai are equipping the title with all sorts of tricks and traps to make defense a bit tough. Sample items that may get in the way include bananas and bombs

In addition to this lineup, Famitsu reveals a few details on the game's local multiplayer mode. Up to four players can compete simultaneously, going two on two, four against the computer or any combination in between.

Mario Super Sluggers hits Japan on June 19. A US release will follow in late August.
