Battlefield 2142, EA's popular futuristic multiplayer action game, is getting new maps and new content along with the usual bug fixes in patch 1.5. The update will showcase two maps designed by community members. Wake Island, a popular map from Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield 2, will return thanks to the folks at Sir. Then there's Jason Brice's map Operation Shingle, formerly known as Anzio. The maps were selected because they brought a new dynamic to the game and have been tweaked, retested, and made into official maps. The map designers worked closely with developer DICE Live to ensure the best Battlefield experience.
After several outcries, update 1.5 will allow players to move in transport ship escape pods but limits pod surfing use. DICE Live is also introducing the ability to turn off vehicles. Players wanting 16:9 and 16:10 resolutions will be happy to know their wishes are granted.
While there is no specific release date for the update, Battlefield.ea.com said we can expect it soon, let's hope we don't have to wait until 2142 to experience it. For more info on Battlefield 2142, check out our review.
