Jonric: What's your situation with respect to licensing music? How many songs can we expect to see in the demo and the full game?
Jake Parks: We anticipate the demo will have about five songs, and the finished product at least 30. The exact numbers will be determined during licensing discussions we're now having with three top music publishers. We hope to have an announcement about this in the next few weeks.
A lot has happened in the past few weeks since our debut at GDC, and based on all this activity, it seems like music publishers, game developers and distributors agree Guitar Rising has a very strong future.Jonric: Where do you stand in terms of distribution? Is it correct to assume you're aiming for the brick and mortar retail channel?
Jake Parks:
This is a delicate topic right now because we're in close to final discussions - literally within the last few weeks - with five potential distributor partners. Our goal is to have a retail presence by this fall in most of the top US retail and music-related outlets, and to have a significant global retail presence.Jonric: Is there anything else you'd like to tell our readers at this time? Where can they find more news and information?
Jake Parks:
As usual, we're the ones who should be expressing our appreciation. While Guitar Rising isn't a conventional RPG by any stretch of the imagination, it will put us in a role when we have the chance to play it. In addition, it fits our editorial mandate, which includes occasionally pointing out interesting titles from genres that aren't our primary ones. So, we're pleased to have had the chance to question GameTank's Jake Parks about his team's intriguing endeavor.
