SEGA Superstars Tennis Unlockable Lineup Revealed

Nearly a decade after the release of Mario Tennis, SEGA is stepping up to the baseline to take a crack at the world of tennis with SEGA Superstars Tennis. Essentially it packs every notable SEGA character into a tennis competition, complete with character-specific superpowers and levels. We've got the lowdown on each of the eight characters that are locked from the start and must be unlocked by completing challenges in the Superstar mode.

Shadow The Hedgehog

Attribute: Speed

Superstar Power Cinematic: Shadow is shrouded by an aura of fiery energy.

Superstar Power Description: His shots zap the opponent into oblivion, only to return them a few seconds later, a little dazed and confused.

Reala

Attribute: All-Around

Superstar Power Cinematic: Reala flies at you and beckons you to bring it on.

Superstar Power Description: Reala's dizzying hits fling the opponent around in a spin.

MeeMee

Attribute: Spin

Superstar Power Cinematic: MeeMee does a little dance.

Superstar Power Description: Her shots summon the power of the Monkey Ball - 3 monkeys in balls roll around the screen trying to bowl over her opponent.

Gum (Jet Set Radio)

Attribute: Speed

Superstar Power Cinematic: Gum dances to some thumping beats.

Superstar Power Description: Gum's shots summon squads of riot police to batter her opponent into submission.

Pudding

Attribute: Spin

Superstar Power Cinematic: Pudding jams on her guitar.

Superstar Power Description: Pudding's attack zig zags frantically across the court before knocking the opponent backwards.

Amy

Attribute: All Round

Superstar Power Cinematic: Amy acts all bashful but she really means to kick your ass.

Superstar Power Description: Amy allures her opponent with tennis shots of hearty love, causing the opponent to stumble around.

Alex Kidd

Attribute: Control

Superstar Power Cinematic: Alex Kidd plays roshambo, a salute to his Miracle World days.

Superstar Power Description: Alex is a heavyweight when it comes to his powerup - after the ball does a few switchbacks on the court the unsuspecting opponent is crushed by a falling 1000 lb weight.

Gilius

Attribute: Power

Superstar Power Cinematic: Gilius tosses a blue spell bottle into the air which summons his lightning power.

Superstar Power Description: Gilius's shots cause lightening to rain down from the skies, shocking any opponent clumsy enough to walk into one of the bolts.

SEGA Superstars Tennis ships to retailers on March 18.
