Hot Shots Golf Getting Update

Download content on the way, too!

Just in time for the game's stateside release, Sony announced today plans to update the Japanese version of Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds with a host of new features. The company also announced the first set of paid downloads for the title.

Set for February 7, the free update will add two new online modes: stroke and match. Stroke mode offers stroke play for four players. Players can chat and freely run about the course while waiting for their turn. Match mode is a 1 on 1 mode where players can set a number of rules governing play.

The update will also add a few features to existing modes, letting you, for instance, forbid power mode, back spin and supers from missions. You'll also be able to specify new limitations for online lobbies, limiting entry to friends, players at the same level, players at the same grade, and players who've gotten permission from the room's owner.

Following the free update, Sony will begin paid downloads. So far, the company has announced three such downloads: a new character, Yukino, for February, a new character, Gloria, for March, and the Australia themed Oceania Resort Corse for April. Pricing has yet to be announced.
