UT3 Ships, Gets Ready for Download

The PC version of Unreal Tournament III shipped to retail stores today and is now available for download from Direct2Drive, Epic Games and Midway announced today.

The latest installment in the fast-paced, first-person futuristic shooter franchise uses the Unreal Engine 3 to showcase new environments, weapons and vehicles.

Players engage in intense battles with other human players online, or against Unreal artificial intelligence. UT3 also introduces a campaign mode that follows the story of Reaper, a colonist who swears revenge on the Necris race that wiped out his home.

An encrypted, downloadable version of UT3 is available for purchase now from D2D, and the game will be unlocked at 12:01 a.m. Nov. 21.

A PlayStation 3 version of UT3 is also on the way, expected in the first quarter of 2008.
