Elijah Wood is Spyro the Dragon

A-list Hollywood talent voices new Spyro game.

You've seen him as Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings and as a creepy cannibalistic killer named Kevin in Sin City. Now Elijah Wood is voicing everyone's favorite purple dragon. No, not Barney; we said dragon, not dinosaur. Vivendi Games has revealed an all-star line-up of Hollywood talent for its new game, The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning.

Alongside Mr. Wood are funnyman David Spade and not-so-funnyman, but often kinda scary man, Gary Oldman. Spade will voice Spyro's trusty sidekick, Sparx the Dragonfly. Oldman will take the role of Ignitus, Spyro's mentor. This time Spyro is out on an adventure to discover his roots, and turn lots of bad guys into crispy critters while he's at it.

The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning will have an entirely new action- and combat-centered gameplay design and will include a new dragon upgrade system so you can customize Spyro to your playstyle. This new sequel from Krome Studios is due out this October for the PS2, GameCube, DS, GBA, and Xbox.
