Steam to Offer Garry's Mod

Valve Software did such a good job on the Half-Life 2 engine that just playing around with the game's physics is fun. Throw in the oddly-entertaining Garry's Mod and you've got one of the most interactive and creative sandbox experiences since kindergarten. The latest version of this mod (version 9.1) is scheduled to debut on Valve Software's digital distribution system, Steam, for $10. Meanwhile, the version that's out now will still be available as a free demo download on Steam.

Garry's Mod is just one of many recent additions to Steam's line-up. Other titles slated to be sold through Valve's service include They Hunger: Lost Souls and SiN Episodes. Half of the fee for downloading Garry's Mod will go to Garry himself, who now has an incentive to keep updating his mod. Deals like this can potentially prolong the lifespan of mods, and we've got no problem with that.
