Tony hawk is the current king of skateboarding, marketing his name into a career in sports, television, movies, and of course, video games. He has dominated the world of action sports video games for nearly a decade, making his series of games one of the most successful franchises of all times. Through the various iterations of the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series, there have been no real competitors to give the birdman a run for his money. Until now. Electronic Arts has an ace up its sleeve with it's new title skate, and it's looking like it will be every bit as good as the skateboarding icon's own series; possibly even better. With its huge roster of top-tier athletes, authentic presentation and a new control scheme, it's looking like skate could very well be the next big thing in action sports gaming.
What's your opinion on the matter? Is the Tony Hawk series really all that, or just another fad? Do you think Danny Way and co. have what it takes in skate to rival Hawk, or are they lesser known skaters for a reason?
