S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Meaning Revealed

After much secrecy, THQ breaks this acronym down.

THQ recently announced the forever-in-development S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has gone gold and will soon be shipping to stores. And while the publisher has long declined to comment on the meaning behind the titles acronym, claiming it would be a spoiler, the game's official website has quietly been updated with an explanation of each letter.

Set in 2012, the game takes place in an area called the Zone, populated by mercenaries and bounty hunters called S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s -- Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers, and Robbers.

Doesn't seem like much of a spoiler to us, but we won't have to wait very long to find out why THQ wanted to keep a lid on it. The game should be shipping this month.
