Metal Gear Solid 3 Servers Shutting Down

Apparently, not too many gamers are taking their Snake game online.

Konami has announced through its Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence support site that it will be shutting down the online game in North America on April 2, 2007. Launched just under a year ago, Subsistence is the second highest-rated PlayStation 2 game on IGN. But apparently there isn't enough online activity for Konami to justify keeping the servers running.

"Konami sincerely thanks all of the Subsistence online community for their dedication to the game and support of the Metal Gear Solid series," a message reads on the support site. Konami also reminds users that Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops is currently available for the PSP with online gameplay.

If you haven't checked out Subsistence's online game, you still have a month to do so. No word, yet, on what is to come of servers in the UK.
