Last week, we asked our Sydney-region readers to send in 25 words or less on why they are keen for Sony's A-grade shooter, Resistance: Fall of Man. You guys came through with the goods in fine form, so we figured we better make good on our offer.
And what was that offer? Well, for those not enlightened in the ways of the IGN competition, we offered 20 readers double-passes to have a private viewing of Resistance, led by Mister Ted Price, CEO and President of Insomniac. How awesome is that? Five kinds. But we went a couple steps further and had four playable units, two controllers each, pumping out the game in fine, hi-def form.
Alex's winning entry: "Resistance is the shooter I've been hungering for because its gloomy environments, sharp-toothed aliens and excessive firepower remind me of my childhood."
Good stuff, there. We took a couple moments to speak with Alex about his winning statement, what he does and his thoughts on Resistance. Still shaking from excitement over his win, he declared, "Awesome. This is awesome. I sort of have a hunch, psychic sort of thing that I might win, but there were a lot of people that I was up against." Of course, the burning question was of his childhood traumas - aliens, gloom, guns and such - and the inspiration behind his entry.
On the event, he enthused, 'It was good to find out from a developers' point of view how everything's done, and of course getting to play Resistance at the end yeah, it all went really well. I liked the co-op side of things, how you can revive your friends and that sort of thing. I sort of enjoyed Resistance more than Gears of War, despite how Gears has been rated, just because I found it to be more innovative, and wasn't as traditional with the weapon system."
