TGS 2006: Fuzion Frenzy 2 Demo Hands-On

The demo of Microsoft's party-game compilation Fuzion Frenzy 2 hit the Xbox Live Marketplace today. The final game will feature more than 40 mini-games, but the demo lets you get play three of them: Conveyor Belt Chaos, Sumo Paint and Ice Treasure Hunt.

In Conveyor Belt Chaos, you control a forklift and try to grab boxes from around the arena and bring them back to your home base, a highlighted area in the corner. The boxes continually fall from the ceiling, and conveyor belts will speed or slow your forklift. You can steal boxes out of opponents' bases or you can zap them, freezing them for a second. After the time runs out, the player with the most boxes wins.

Sumo Paint puts your character in a metal sphere, ala American Gladiators, and you have to roll over as many panels of the arena as possible, painting the panel your color. If someone else rolls over the panel, they will paint it there color. Of course, you can knock them off the edge of the arena and steal them right back.

In Ice Treasure Hunt, you use a flame thrower to melt blocks of ice and nab the coins inside. If an opponent gets too close, you can simply fry him and take the cash.

Choose from one of six characters, but the differences are largely cosmetic -- there is no advantage from one to another. Up to four players can play, while the CPU will fill the spots if you can't track down a human friend to play with. Loser.

Fuzion Frenzy 2 is a fun little party game and the little tikes should get a kick out it with other little tikes. It's no Halo Killer -- heck, it's not even an Over G Fighters killer -- but it's a fun little party game and also happens to be a favorite of the chairmen himself, Billy Gates.
