FIFA 07 Introduces Online Leagues

It's a well known fact that several million people, give or take, die each year at soccer matches. Fans care so much about their own team that something has just got to give. My personal favorite act of soccer violence took place in May 2001 when Inter Milan fans stole a motor scooter, lit it on fire and drove it off the second deck of the stadium.

It's that kind of hatred -- er, passion that EA is trying to recreate with Interactive Leagues in FIFA 07. These are not online leagues in the 2K Sports sense, although it's about time those were included in EA games. No, with these interactive leagues, you pick your favorite team. Every time your team plays in real life, you play online against the same opponent, controlled by a fan of that team. EA keeps track of the winners and losers, and a champion is crowned each week.
