PS3 F.E.A.R. for Launch

Monolith's scary first-person shooter confirmed for November.

After months of speculation and false alarms, Vivendi Games (via Sierra) has finally announced that F.E.A.R. is coming to the PlayStation 3. However, the news that should please most would-be PS3 owners is the fact that the game will also appear as a launch title this November.

Otherwise known as "First Encounter Assault Recon," F.E.A.R. was originally developed by Monolith Productions for the PC in 2005 and was one of IGN's PC favorites of last year. While the console version is running off the same engine as its predecessor, the game is getting a formal port treatment from the MechAssault guys at Day 1 -- the studio already hard at work on an Xbox 360 translation of F.E.A.R. and an unnamed next-gen project for LucasArts.

PlayStation 3 details haven't been fully disclosed yet, but Vivendi has confirmed that, just like the Xbox 360 version, the PS3 iteration of the game will include exclusive single and multiplayer content not found in the original PC disc. The game will also boast at least moment that will creep you the hell out. To see the first glimpses of the PS3 version for yourself, click on the thumbnails below.

More as it develops (and hatches, and oozes, and crawls).
