Stranglehold Kicked Out of 2006

The John Woo action-fest won't be kicking up your holiday stash this year.

When we last checked in on Stranglehold, the John Woo-infused next-gen action romp, Midway confirmed its intentions to release the game as a launch title for the PlayStation 3, suggesting the title would arrive for other consoles this holiday as well.

Sadly, criminals and breakable furniture aren't the only things being pushed around: an official Stranglehold update from Midway today lists the title as scheduled for the first quarter of 2007, and not this year as originally planned.

As of this writing, Midway was not available to comment on the delay.

Stranglehold, developed by the Chicago-based Psi-Ops team at Midway Amusement, is a loose follow-up to John Woo's Hard Boiled series of motion pictures. Woo himself is involved in the project, as is the film's lead actor Chow Yun-Fat who is reprising his role as Inspector Tequila.
