S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Set for Early 2007

GSC Gameworld announces "official" release timing.

Long-delayed first-person thriller S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl will arrive in the first quarter of 2007, according to an update from developer GSC Gameworld. While it may not be the definitive date readers are looking for, the company is finally sounding reasonably confident as to when the game will arrive.

The game, which is set to be published by THQ, has seen numerous delays since it was officially announced in 2002. Today's announcement is in line with THQ's own estimates -- the publisher placed the game at "early 2007" in February's Q3 earnings report.

Of course, veteran readers (and gamers) know to be skeptical almost until a game is actually on shelves. We'll have more as details come in.
