E3 2006: Spider-Man 3 Release Date Confirmation

During its E3 press briefing held on Monday (but embargoed until this morning), the U.S. publishing giants at Activision confirmed the release date of its movie-based action-adventure sequel, Spider-Man 3. As expected when the game was first announced several years ago, the title will be released in May 2007 -- roughly the same time as the movie.

Presumably expanding on the plot of the motion picture (just as the previous movie-based games have), Spider-Man 3 was only mentioned for release on "all next-generation consoles," but not for the current-gen (this doesn't mean titles on those platforms won't be coming, though -- they just weren't mentioned).

Unfortunately for all those in attendance at Activision's event, the company didn't show any actual in-game footage from Spider-Man 3, but rather, a technical demo featuring the wall-crawler's character model. Additional details are still forthcoming.
