The latest King of Fighters game is speeding along for a mid summer PS2 release over in Japan. SNK Playmore will bring Japanese PS2 owners The King of Fighters XI on 6/22, presumably making this the first fighting game series to top the 10 mark on a home console.
SNK Playmore is planning for more than just a direct arcade port. In addition to 40 characters from the arcade version, you'll now be able to select from 7 new fighters, including the likes of Mr. Big and EX KYO. The game also adds a color edit feature and Online support through KDDI's Multi Matching BB service.
Of course, this is still King Of Fighters, right down to the team-based battles. We can presumably look forward to a US release some time following the Japanese version.
