MLB 2K6 in a Pickle

MLB 2K6 shipped only yesterday and already there are widespread reports of "freezing" around the videogame community. Numerous members of the IGN message boards reported the problem, and our own copy of MLB 2K6 has frozen in all four games we have tried to play today. (IGN often uses Gold discs instead of retail copies to review games so we can get our reviews online as soon as possible. We experienced no freezing issues with our Gold disc.)

2K Sports promptly issued a statement today, saying, "For those customers experiencing technical issues with Major League Baseball 2K6 on Xbox 360, 2K Sports is aware of the 'freeze' problem some customers are experiencing and is working on a solution. This appears to occur for owners of Xbox 360 with HDD and a solution will be available in the very near future. For updates on this issue, please visit http://www.2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?p=691251. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused to your playing experience."

There has been no word on what is causing the freezing, be it a software compatibility issue with the 360 console or a possible disc-manufacturing issue. As it stands, MLB 2K6 freezes more often than Armando Benitez in a save opportunity. We will keep you posted as 2K Sports works to correct the problem.
