Catz to Paw GBAs

Ubisoft will bring the virtual kitten title to shelves this month.

While Nintendogs played the cute card deftly, capturing fawning love from countless gamers, the title offered little for those decidedly on the feline side of the cat-dog divide. Perhaps in answer, Ubisoft announced today it will distribute Catz, a virtual kitten simulator from MTO Co.

Catz lets players adopt a virtual kitten, earning its love and loyalty by feeding, grooming, and playing with it. An in-game store lets owners buy new toys and accessories for their little furball, while the cat itself communicates via purrs and meows. Using a link cable, two Catz owners can explore the block and visit new friends. Catz offers 13 breeds to choose from, including Persian, Himalayan, Abyssinian, and the exotic Ocicat.

"Ubisoft is pleased to bring the first kitten simulation game to the millions of Game Boy Advance owners around the world," said Tony Kee, the company's vice president of marketing. "Now there is a virtual option for cat lovers! We are confident players will enjoy caring for and watching their kittens grow."

Look for Catz to pounce this month.
