Blade Dancer Announced

New RPG coming from Hitmaker and SCE Japan.

NIS America announced today at an event in San Francisco that Blade Dancer: Lineage of Light, is heading for the Playstation Portable. SCE WWS JAPAN Studio, in conjunction with Hit Maker Co., Ltd., is developing the exclusive title. Blade Dancer promises a number of things that aren't normally seen in a handheld RPG, including a dynamic multiplayer system, online play and full 3D visuals.

"To say we are excited is an understatement. Blade Dancer has originally and depth like no other. SCEW WWS Japan Studio and Hit Maker have collaborated on this project to bring a truly remarkable title," said Haru Akenaga, president of NIS America, INC."

Players will assume the role of Lance, a young knight with magic powers from the land of Foo. As is the case with most young knights, Lance needs to vanquish an evil being. This time, its name is Dread Knight, and it killed the legendary Blade Dancer during the Great War, which engulfed a sizeable chunk of real estate. So, Lance and his comrades must find, and then kill, the Dread Knight to restore order, end chaos and save the universe.

Players will navigate characters through a full 3D world brimming monsters. Unlike many RPGS, combat in Blade Dancer is in real time and uses an intricate synthesis system with over 650 items. There's also a new power sharing system between party members, as well as a four-player network play.

Expect Blade Dancer to hit store shelves July 2006.
