Arena Football Kicked into Stores

EA breaks the green on its latest football franchise.

Electronic Arts today announced the arrival of Arena Football, the company's first title based on the AFL license. The game was developed by EA Tiburon, home of the Madden series.

True to AFL rules, Arena Football features 8-on-8 play, including six players who play both sides of the ball, and the ability to send players into and over the walls with each play. Fast-paced and high-scoring offenses allow players to launch an aerial assault using playbooks created by real-life AFL coaches.

"The AFL was an amazing league to work with and we strived to create a game that accurately depicts their unique brand of football," said EA Tiburon's Mike Taramykin. "Arena Football has features that will appeal to both AFL fans and sports fans alike."

Arena Football is now available for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox.
