Top Spin 2 Drops the Ball

Those gamers looking forward to the intense next-gen tennis action promised by 2K Sports' Top Spin 2 may have to wait a little longer. As seems to be the case with several games originally scheduled to release on the Xbox 360 in the early, Top Spin 2 seems to have been delayed until April of 2006.

What we're basing this on is an EBgames listing that as recently a yesterday had Top Spin 2 listed as releasing in a matter of weeks. Today, it read 4/3/05. What the actual release date is for sure, we don't know. We've put in calls to 2K sports with no response so far, so we'll have to wait for an official word. As soon as we hear, we'll update this story. Generally, though, these listings don't change unless there's a reason behind it.

In addition to augmented visuals, Top Spin 2 will allow for the creation of realistic player models. You'll be able to accessorize your created players with sweatbands, hairstyles, shoes, shirts and plenty of other aesthetic options to. Players will be able to use a variety of drops, volleys and serves to battle against and alongside 24 of the world's best, including Andy Roddick, Lindsay Davenport, Roger Federer and Venus Williams.As might be expected with the popularity of Xbox Live, online tennis will also be a big feature.
