Sony Acquires Guerrilla Games

Killzone developer goes first-party. And what's this about Killzone PSP?

Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) announced today that it had acquired Amsterdam-based developer Guerrilla Games, best known for its Killzone sci-fi FPS franchise, for an undisclosed amount. The two companies had a very close previously-existing relationship already, as Guerrilla had signed an agreement to develop games exclusively for Sony in March 2004.

According to SCE Worldwide Studios president Phil Harrison, Guerrilla Games has a "great combination of creative, technical and production talent in their team and we have enjoyed a close working relationship with their management and staff for a number of years." For its part, Guerrilla stated that they were pleased to take their relationship with Sony to the "next level."

Guerrilla is currently in the process of developing another iteration of its Killzone franchise for Sony's PlayStation 3 next-generation gaming console, and is also working on a game set "within the Killzone universe" for for PlayStation Portable.
