Dark Age of Camelot Defers to Hurricane Victims

Mythic suspends online rent payments to assist those who can't sign in.

Mythic Entertainment will temporarily suspend rent for in-game housing in Dark Age of Camelot in order to accommodate players affected by Hurricane Katrina. The change requires that game servers be taken down for the first part of Friday.

"We've all got friends and family down south," reads an official post on The Camelot Herald, and there's a big player community down there as well. Like many of you, we're struggling to find some small way that we can help besides the basic and obvious 'donate to the Red Cross' stuff."

Mythic evaluated what players might lose in-game when unable to log in, and determined rent was the only real concern. Because the company is unable to suspend rent based on a player's real-world address, it is simply suspending rent across the board. Mythic plans to reinstate the rent system when the Darkness Rising update arrives in October.
