Mario Superstar Baseball

Batter up! See Mario and gang smash balls and make diving catches in 10 brand new direct-feed movies.

Nintendo's Mario Superstar Baseball is already out in Japan and it'll hit streets in America in just a few short weeks. The title, co-developed by Namco, throws a fastball full of simple, arcadey baseball action. Mario Superstar Baseball is uncomplicated. The pitching and hitting mechanics, both of which operate intuitively with the control stick and a single button, are easily learned, and the Nintendo influence is noticeable from the very start. When a fly ball is popped to center field and bounces off a floating coin box, or is hurled into right field by way of a spinning tornado, there's no way the game can be mistaken for anything but Mario Superstar Baseball.

To celebrate the game's impending stateside arrival, we've put together a new batch of direct-feed movies grabbed direct from the Japanese version. Today's videos show off everything from the Exhibition Mode, in which players can match up their favorite mascots and battle it out in a traditional game of baseball, to some of the quirky mini-games.
