First True Crime: New York City Details

Strangely enough, it involves crime. And a city.

Activision revealed new details of True Crime: New York City, the urban crime action sequel in development at Luxoflux.

In True Crime: New York City, you'll play Marcus Reed, a rogue street cop who was once a criminal himself. You'll have to use techniques both within and outside the law to track down your mentor's killer, while cleaning up the streets.

The game will offer an "expertly recreated Manhattan" with streets true to GPS data, and detailed recreations of areas like Hell's Kitchen and Times Square. Reed's actions -- whether he stamps out wrongdoing or lets crime flourish -- will visually affect the neighborhoods in the game, as well as determine how many criminals roam local streets.

True Crime: New York City features "environmental interaction" (i.e., you can use almost anything around you as a weapon); high-speed, stunt-heavy in-vehicle shootouts; a variety of street combat styles; and a full arsenal of weaponry.

Look for the latest True Crime to arrive this fall for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube. We'll be back soon with more. In the meantime, check out a new batch of screens.
