Viewtiful Sequel Gets Name Change

The latest entry in the Viewtiful Joe series has received a name change. Instead of Viewtiful Joe VFX Battle, it's now Viewtiful Joe Battle Carnival. Several overseas games publications have begun listing the game under its new name, with Capcom confirming the change for Japanese release. Whether this change will affect the game's US release remains unclear, but it seems likely as many games go through similar title revisions prior to release.

However, Capcom representatives couldn't confirm anything either way. Viewtiful Joe Battle Carnival should hit retailers in Japan this September for the Nintendo GameCube. The PSP version still lacks a solid ship date, but it's likely PSP fans won't need to wait too long.

Viewtiful Joe Battle Carnival takes the funky art style and equally funky characters from previous games and throws them into an all-new fighting game. Details on the game remain scarce, but expect to see Joe, Sylvia, Captain Blue and others, in an old-school beat em' up.
