Ubi Nabs the Bard

inXile's RPG has a friend for Europe.

French developer Ubisoft and American development house inXile Entertainment announced in a joint release today that Ubi will be publishing The Bard's Tale in the PAL territories this March. Created under the leadership of original Bard's Tale co-creator Brian Fargo, this reinterpretation of the classic 1980s RPG stars Princess Bride legend Cary Elwes as the sarcastic bard.

"The Bard's Tale is a refreshingly different RPG, able to poke irreverent fun at both the genre and itself. It manages to respect the rules of its category while breaking them at the same time. We are delighted to introduce players to a title that can both satisfy those looking to try a lighter RPG as well as those RPG aficionados ready to sit back and laugh," said John Parkes, EMEA Marketing Director at Ubisoft.

"We think European gamers are waiting for an intelligently funny game, and are delighted to be working with Ubisoft to make sure they find out first hand what gamers in North America have been laughing about the last couple months!" said Brian Fargo, CEO and founder of inXile entertainment. "The IGN reviewer called it 'one of the funniest games we've ever played and I have to say objectively that I agree."

IGN's own resident sarcasmo, Hilary Goldstein gave The Bard's Tale a respectable 8.2 score when it was released in America last October. To check out the review for yourself (or read up on any other pertinent information), click here. We'll keep you updated on any further developments.
