Naruto 3 To DS

Nintendo's portable gets Game Boy Advance sequel.

One of the earliest titles announced for the DS was Naruto from Tomy. Based off the manga and cartoon of the same name, little was revealed on this DS entry, aside from a screenshot that looked like nothing more than a mock-up.

Today, sources in Japan have revealed that the Naruto game in question is actually Naruto: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu 3, a DS sequel to the two Naruto action/fighters that Tomy released for the Game Boy Advance. The game will be fully unveiled in the upcoming issue of Weekly Jump Magazine with a Japanese release expected in the Spring.

Naruto is big business in Japan, with three GameCube Naruto games having managed a combined total of over a million copies sold. Bandai had similar success with its PS2 fighters based on the series. A DS take on the show should be well received, especially by those who are anxiously awaiting the release of Jump Superstars from Nintendo and, of course, those who played the first two Game Boy Advance titles.

We expect to have first details on Naruto: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu 3 shortly. Stay tuned.
