Star Wars Battlefront: New Map

LucasArts rolls out Jabba's trecherous Palace, plus patches for PC.

LucasArts announced its plan to roll out the new map, Jabba's Palace, for its online action game Star Wars: Battlefront today, making it available for Xbox and PC players beginning November 19.

The Star Wars company also released an 18.3 MB patch, v1.1, for PC players, available immediately.

The downloadable level Jabba's Palace takes place on the desert planet of Tatooine and features Gamorrean Guards, the gigantic pit beast known as the Rancor, and the master slug himself, Jabba the Hutt. Jabba's Palace will be ready to download for PC gamers November 19, followed by a date sometime "soon" for Xbox users.

The patch solves dozens of issues and adds new content and features. The fixes include a minor tweak to the server browser screen, improves connections with GameSpy Arcade, the addition of planets to the loading screen, installation optimization, and easier vehicle entry.

Dozens of both small and substantial new features have been added too. These include improved Hard level AI, and a slew of host options have been added. For instance, now the spawn invincibility duration can be set by the host, the host has the ability to boot players on dedicated and non-dedicated servers, he has the ability to ban players, and players now have an optimized process for voting.
